Fertility is an issue that has preoccupied humanity since ancient times. In all cultures, after all, there were distinct rituals and prayers, as well as “specialized” gods, whom people invoked to achieve the much-desired fertility. Today, though free from superstitions and taboos, people continue to view having a child as very important.
