Obstetrician Gynecologist Surgeon

Ioannis Katsakos was born in Athens in 1977. He graduated from Leonteio High School in 1995 with a perfect score on his final exam. In 2001, he received his bachelor’s degree from the Department of Medicine at the School of Health Sciences, University of Patras, with a grade of “Very good.”

 

In 2009, he received a Master’s Degree (M.Sc. - Master’s Degree) in “Minimally Invasive Surgery, Robotic Surgery, and Telesurgery” from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

 

He successfully completed the two-year degree program with a grade of “A” and was awarded a scholarship for academic excellence and the highest degree grade.

 

Thesis title: “A review of the complications of total laparoscopic hysterectomy”.

 

As part of his specialization in laparoscopic surgery, he applies laparoscopic techniques on simulators in the Medical Physics Laboratory at the University of Athens.

 

He received a certificate of competence and the authority to provide training to new students in the graduate program on minimally invasive and endoscopic gynecological techniques using simulators.

 

The laboratory has received accreditation for proper operation from the American College of Surgeons (Division of Education – Accreditation, 2009).

 

In 2010, he completed a doctoral dissertation in the field of assisted reproduction – IVF at the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

 

In 2016, he joined the team of collaborating physicians at HOPEgenesis. HOPEgenesis.

 

In 2017, he was granted a license to perform ultrasounds in the specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Ministry of Health.

 

In 2018, he was promoted to Deputy Director of Medical Services at the “MITERA” Hospital and Maternity Clinic.

 

In 2019, he was elected Secretary General (Board Member) of the Hellenic Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ENMGE).

 

In 2023, he was elected to the Scientific Council of the “MITERA” Hospital.ΜIΤΕRΑ

 

Regarding his scientific work, he has co-authored numerous scientific publications, and has a list of publications in Greek and foreign-language journals, as well as numerous presentations at international conferences, focusing primarily on developments in laparoscopy and in vitro fertilization.

2001-2003: Field service with a secondment to the Surgical Department of the General Regional Hospital of Pyrgos.

 

2003-2004: Resident Physician in the Department of Surgery at the General Regional Hospital of Pyrgos.

 

2004-2005: Doctor at the 117th Combat Wing (Andravida Military Airfield).

 

2005-2006:  Physician at the MITERA Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.

 

2006-2008: Resident Physician in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the General Hospital of Corinth.

 

2008-2012: Resident Physician in the Second Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the General Hospital and Maternity Center “ELENA VENIZELOU . Voluntary membership in the HOPEgenesis network of collaborating physicians since 2016. In addition, participation in workshops on primary health care and continuing education through a series of lectures on current obstetric and gynecological topics such as HPV vaccines, sexually transmitted diseases, abortions, the H1N1 virus, and pregnancy, etc., at health centers, schools, and women’s associations in the prefectures of Corinthia and Attica. The lectures and presentations were deemed scientifically sound and incorporated the most recent knowledge and guidelines in these specific fields. They took place during the period 2006–2018.
